Dudley Kingswinford 10k
Wednesday 6th May
A field of nearly 1000 runners ran the DK10k on a cool and very windy Wednesday and were led home by Martin Williams, Tipton in 32.03. He had run London in 2.23.02 only 10 days before where his 10k split was 32.02 so he was no doubt tired. Nicki Nealon ( Huncote Harriers) was first lady and FV40 in 37.22.
On a hilly course Mark Graham led B&R in with a good time of 38.43 to be 6th V40 and 46th overall. Pete Hawcroft and Simon Bowen had their own race with Pete dropping Simon on the first hill at 2k. Simon kept in contact and on the final flat 1.5k run was closing quickly but ran out of distance to leave Pete in 96th place as first V60 in 41.42. Simon was 99th and 6th V50 in 41.51.
Phil Woodyatt was very pleased with his time of 46.33 in 263rd place. Despite saying she wasn't there to race Yvonne Priestman couldn't resist her natural instincts and had a great run to be second FV60 in 421th place with 50.13. She was 4 mins ahead of the first V55.
Roger Beacham (V65) made his first competetive appearance for many months after injury and knee replacement in December. He was delighted to go just under the hour in 59.59 and will no doubt be back in the prizes when he turns 70 next year.
