B&R FINISH ON TOP AT RAIN-SOAKED KETTERING

Click for full results as pdf

B&R did finish top on the day by 20 points – ahead of the strong Leicester Coritanians team.  Well done! All of the results are not in for Midland Division 1 East yet so I don't know where we stand in the table.

Note that the next match will be at Solihull and not at Stourport as originally planned.

Boys team report by Team Manager Cavin Scotock:

Thanks to Phil Woodyatt who stepped in to look after the team on the day whilst Calvin ran for the club in the Hilly 100 relay race. Thanks to the parents and supporters who turned up on such a wet day and well done to all the B&R team.

Under 17 Men

Kota Suzuki once again won the A 100m and 200m.  With new PBs in both of these events 100m - 11.10s, 200m - 23.10s.  His 11.10 in the 100m equals the club record for the under 17 men's category held by Andy Nock since 1989.  Hopefully we will see him break this record this year and maybe also get under 11 seconds.  Unfortunately Kota was up against a very good long jumper and finished 2nd as the A athelete.

Dewi Hammond also won the B 100m and 200m.  Again with PBs, I think, 100m - 11.20s, 200m - 23.70.  His 100m time of 11.20 was very impressive.  As Dewi has another season in the Under 17 Men's category I can see Kota not hanging on to a club record for very long once he has got under Andy Nock's time.  After these fantastic performances he did not jump as far as normal in the long jump but still finished second as the B athlete.

Chris Warren won the 800m in a good time of 2:14.5 with an athelete from Kettering less than a second behind.  That must have been a good race to watch.  Chris also won the 1500m and was 13 seconds ahead of the Kettering athlete who was so close to him in the 800m.

Jack Morley ran a good 3000m to finish 2nd.  It looks as if he was the only athlete in the under 17 men's 400m so it must have been hard to push on to finish in 63seconds.  Well done Jack for doing this and collecting the mandatory 4 points.  In the first year Jack has been able to do the Triple Jump at the Young Athletes League (it only starts at the under 17 category) he jumped just over 10 metres (10.08) to take 2nd place as the A athlete.

Tom Piper was 3rd in the Discus and Shot.  His discus throw of 21.08 was good but unfortunately there were better athelete from the other clubs.  That throw would have won the discus at the 1st meeting!

We were able to field a 4x100m relay team in the under 17 men's category.  It looks as if it was a close race with our team of Chris Warren, Dewi Hammond, Jack Morley and Kota Suzuki taking 2nd place.  Well done.

 Under 15 Boys

Nick Freer won his 200m but was up against a very good 100m athlete from DASH who was difficult to catch, Nick finished 2nd place in the 100m in a fantastic time of 11.9s which I think is the fist time Nick has been under 12seconds so a new PB for him.  His time in the 200m of 24.2s also looks like a PB.  Congratulations Nick.

Ian Haley was 2nd in the B 100m and 3rd in the 200m.  This is Ian's first year competing for the club and has potential to improve.  He was over 1 second quicker in the 100m than he ran at the first meeting and over 2 seconds quicker in the 200m.  Well done Ian and I look forwarding to seeing you at future meetings.

Matthew Maneffa won the 400m by 10 seconds even though he had not been very well.  He also had a go at the Shot for extra points and finished 3rd.

Bradford Piper was also ill but turned up and filled in on some of the field events.  He was 2nd as the B athlete in the Discus and Shot.  Those 6 points along with the points from the other athletes doing events 'just for the extra points' would have got us those extra 20 points to come first.

Jamie Scoltock was first as the A athlete in the 1500m and 1st as the B athlete in the 400m.  He also had a go at the long jump due to other athletes being ill and even though he came last there was only one other club with a B athlete so he finished 2nd as the B athelete and claimed another 3 points.

George Thomas ran a good 1500m to finish just behind Jamie ahead of all of the other A athletes to finish as the 1st B athlete.

Simeon Clarence improved on his 80m hurdles time from the first meeting to match his winning time of 16.90s at last weekends Worcestershire County Championships.  However at this meeting it was only good enough to finish 3rd.  He also finished 2nd in the long jump.  He does not appear to have done the High Jump, I presume his knee was causing him trouble.

Tim Hoppe was 2nd in the B 80m Hurdles and 4th in the discus.  Thank you Tim for having a go at the discus.

We managed to get a 4x100m relay team in the under 15 boys category.  An even closer race than the under 17s with only 2 seconds seperating 2nd and 4th.  Our team of Ian Haley, Simeon Clarence, Tim Hoppe and Nick Freer finish 2nd.

Hopefully next time we will also get a 4x400m team out.

 Under 13 Boys

Jim Morley won his 200m and long jump and was 2nd in a very close 1500m.

Adam Plummer won the 800m and filled in on the 100m.  He just missed out on 3rd place by 0.1 of a second, not bad for a longer distance athelete.  His points in the 100m would have helped the club win this meeting.

George Stanhope was 1st as the B 800m athlete and also filled in on the 100m finishing 2nd as the B athlete and also 1st B long jumper.

Tom Neylon was 2nd as the B 1500m and only 0.3s behind Jim Morley.  That 1500m must have been another good race to watch unfold, with less than 6 seconds seperating all athletes (A and B).  Tom also filled in by running the 200m finishing 1st in the B race.

Thank you to the four of you filling in the shorter distance and staying until the end of the day to do the 4x100m relay.  It must have been worth it as you won the relay, not bad for a group of long distance runners.  Hopefully we will get some sprinters turning up for the next 3 meetings.
