B&R Four Head for the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon

On Sunday 13th September Paul Collins, Jane Hawkins, Jimmy Atkins and Simon Bowen competed in the annual Lake Vyrnwy half marathon.

This is a well organized event on a fast course which offers P.B. opportunities and over 1100 runners completed the race.

After a short downhill stretch at the start, the course climbs for the first mile to the dam on Lake Vyrnwy. There then follows an 11 mile clockwise circuit of the lake before returning to the dam and the one mile descent to the finish.

Although the circuit of the lake has to be relatively flat there is the definite impression that you are running downhill along the one side of the lake, and uphill on the other.

Paul ran well from the start and was B&R’s first runner home in18th position. Simon was next in 115th position and set a P.B.

Jimmy and Jane were nip and tuck all the way round but in last mile Jane pulled clear to put up a great time. Jimmy put up an excellent time and to also achieve a P.B. They finished 135th and 141st respectively.
