West Midlands Young Athletes Cross Country League

Aldersley Park, Wolverhampton

Sunday 11th November 2011

Above: The B&R U17 girl's team Orianna, Megan and Charlotte were 7th.

This was the second meeting of the season and again the weather was far removed from the usual climate found during the cross country season.   Although the ground was damp, the sun shone for our Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletes.  The course was flatter than most offering perhaps a little faster pace but it also narrowed at various sections keeping the athletes on their toes.

As a team the under 17 girls placed the highest on the day at 7th.  It consisted of Orianna Ball (25th), Megan Griesell (42nd) and Charlotte Tongue (43rd).

Individually, the best performance of the day had to go to Olivia Gardener who ran a brilliant race and had the winner in her sights as she finished in 4th place in the under 13 girls race.  This team (which also included Livvy Worth, Jordan Prost, Kirsten Greenhalgh, Lucy Holmes and Harriet Moseley) finished 11th overall.

The under 11 girls saw another good run by Amy Mijovic-Couldwell who finished 11th.  The team (Amy Migovic-Couldwell, Kitty Luscombe, Nicol Green and Buffy Pinnegar) placed 9th in their age category.

Under 15 girls were also represented.  An excellent run by Katie Plummer (finishing 9th) along with Amelia Tompkin, Ruth Gameson and Ellie Thomas placed the girls 13th overall.

The boys also performed well.  The under 11 boys were represented by Cameron Cooper (12th), Josh Pearson (14th) and Stewart Greenhalgh (25th) placing them 10th while the Under 13 boys (Charlie Kirby, Ben O’Conner, Max Battle, Rhys Suffling, Liam Boden and Adam Neale) managed a full team to place them 11th.

James Dowling competed in the Under 15 boys finishing 38th and Alex Rainsden (14th), Callum Smith (21st) and Jason Perera 48th).

The next cross country race for this league takes place on 11th December hosted by Leamington Spa.
