Achieving Swim 21 Accreditation
Criteria for assessment for all aquatic clubs will focus on three development areas:
• Compliance – generic to all disciplines with an emphasis on good management. • Workforce Development – again, generic to all disciplines with a focus on the training and development of people within the club. • Athlete Development – specific to each aquatic discipline with a concentration on the needs of the athlete.
These development areas are referred to as ‘Modules’ and each has a set of aims followed by a series of outcomes or ‘Elements’ which reflect sound development practice. Accreditation assessment will be based on ‘evidence’ of the clubs’ achievement against these outcomes. Clubs that meet a sufficient number of these outcomes will be rewarded with the ASA’s Swim 21 Accreditation Certificate. Achievement of Swim 21 Accreditation means that clubs will be automatically awarded Sport England’s Clubmark thereby ensuring that ‘aquatic’ clubs receive equal status with other sports clubs in the community.
