The New Diving Awards
Recent revisions and changes to the ASA Diving Awards have been causing some confusion. Previously the awards were in Grades, they are now in Levels, which no longer have poolside or board skills as they have all been rolled into one. The first badges awarded for diving under the old system were preliminary, grades 1 & 2, these now fall undre the FlipnFun badge scheme, which sits in stages 8-10 within the new National Plan, therefore you will need to refer to this for your leraner/beginner divers.
The New Diving Awards begin from the old garde 3, which is now the New Level 1 and so on. They have all been revised with some changes to the skills, to ensure the scheme falls in line with the new competition structure for diving. Once all 7 levels have been completed participants are ready to competer should they wish to do so.
Clubs are advised to carry on with the old awards unril such a time as they need to order new stock when they should switch to the New Awards. The Awards centre has a limited amount of old stock which will be phased out.

| REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS FOR DIVING |
Major projects that will be driven by the RDDOs include:
- Swim 21 accreditation to help diving clubs offer quality assurance to those currently in the sport and any newcomers.
- Implementation of long term athlete development to enable everyone in the regions to develop with the sport as it evolves.
- Flip ānā Fun events which will encourage beginners to have fun and develop solid foundations on which to base their future career.
In addition to the major projects, the RDDOs are here to offer assistance in the ongoing development of clubs, to help communication between the many different groups in the diving community and create partnerships links with other sporting organisations.
