Information on Seminar Categories
There are two categories of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)seminars that an ASA Swimming Teacher/Coach can choose to attend:
CPD Seminars - Category 1 Seminars accredited by the ASA Awarding Body as evidence towards the ASA Teacher/Coach Licensing Scheme and/or personal development.
The ASA are responsible for all training and ongoing development associated with the licensing scheme, therefore seminars registered by Training Providers in this category have been through a quality assurance process to determine its accuracy and suitability for this purpose.
The ASA Awarding Body will issue an attendance certificate stating the number of points accredited for licensing purposes on completion of the seminar (on a point per hour basis).
CPD Seminars - Category 2 Seminars recognised by the ASA Awarding Body as evidence towards personal CPD.
Seminars registered by Training Providers in this category are recognised by the ASA Awarding Body as being beneficial for personal development.
To gain recognition from the ASA Awarding Body for this category, the training provider will have provided a seminar programme and identified an appropriate presenter, however it is the training provider and not the ASA who is responsible for the content and delivery.
The ASA Awarding Body will issue an attendance certificate on completion of the seminar to recognise that learning has taken place.
NB Attendance cannot be recognised as evidence towards the ASA Teacher/Coach Licensing Scheme as the ASA Awarding Body have not determined its accuracy and suitability through the quality assurance process for this purpose, therefore no points relating to the scheme will be issued on the certificate.
