GREAT LONDON SWIM
Saturday 15th August 2009 will see the launch of the inaugural and much anticipated Great London Swim.
The Great London Swim looks set to be just as popular as the inaugural Great North Swim and it is predicted that entries will fill quickly so make sure you enter soon to avoid disappointment.
The one mile course will be set against the magnificent London skyline, with views of Canary Wharf and The O2 arena providing the perfect backdrop for thousands of swimmers as they take to the water.
In keeping with the tradition of other Great Swim’s, world class elites will lead the field from the front covering the same course as the masses.
From 9am onwards groups of approximately 200 swimmers will enter the water, with a 30 minute interval between each group.
To take part in this event in aid of the Child Bereavement Charity please contact Emma Carter on 01494 446648 or emma.carter@childbereavement.org.uk

FRESH 2O LAUNCH MAKE WAVES SAVE LIVES CHALLENGE
Swimming superstar Mark Foster and double Olympic Champion Rebecca Adlington were present at the launch of fresh2o week (which took place 22nd – 27th March 2009) and are now encouraging you to swim in the first ever Make Waves and Save Lives Swim fresh2o Challenge. Money raised will go toward providing clean water for drinking and sanitation purposes in countries such as Madagascar and Ethiopia. You don’t have to be an amazing swimmer to take part, just willing to swim up and down a pool at a venue near you - swimmers of all ages and abilities will be making the splash.
Distances have been named after lakes around the world where water is needed the most. You can choose between Lake Sahaka, Madagascar (1km), Lake Langano, Ethiopia (3km), Lake Nubia, Sudan (5km), The Mark Foster Challenge - Lake Tana, Ethiopia (15km) or Lake Oponono, Namibia (the flexi-swim allowing you to choose your own distance). Prizes are up for grabs to individuals and teams who raise the most money.
The 2009 Make Waves and Save Lives Swim fresh2o Challenge finishes on April 30th. To take part click HERE to download the sponsorship form, or visit http://www.fresh2o.org/ for more information.
