GENERAL INFORMATION

First sporting success: Winning the 100m Butterfly at a County Championships when I was 11

Finest sporting moment: Winning a bronze medal at the 2005 European Junior Championships. It was my last junior meet so it was an amazing way to finish that part of my career

Tip for the top: Always believe in yourself and enjoy what you’re doing

First GB selection year: 2002

Sporting heroes: Kieron Perkins and Michael Schumacher

Closest friends in sport: Caroline Saxby and Brad White

Other sporting successes: I came second in a Hartlepool junior Tennis tournament when I was 10

Favourite sport other than swimming: Golf, Tennis and Cycling

Three words that best describe you: Calm, open and focused

Would most like to meet: James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet from Metallica

Most prized possession: My guitar. I couldn’t live without it

Biggest influence on career: My mum

Any other family connections to sport: My Gran was a cyclist, my Mum was a swimmer, my Dad played football and my sister is a dancer

Toughest opponent: Grant Hackett

Any pets: I have three Guinea pigs and a fish

Biggest passion away from swimming: Music. I like Rock and Heavy metal

Biggest disappointment: Not qualifying for the 2006 Commonwealth Games

Favourite venue and why: Ponds Forge in Sheffield, because it is the best and fastest pool I have swam in

Tips to relax: Lie in bed and listen to your favourite songs

Education: Graduated from The Southport School in 2005

Ultimate ambition: To be able to look back at my life and say that I have made something of myself and that was the best that I could do

Where do you see yourself in 10 years: In a rock band selling millions of records and playing to thousands of people
