GENERAL INFORMATION

Favourite event: 200m Breaststroke. I prefer the longer distance.

Finest ever performance/Why: My swim in the heats of the 200m Breaststroke at the Olympic Trials. I had to make the qualifying time in order to stand a chance of qualifying for Beijing. I had torn an abductor muscle and not actually swum breaststroke for the previous three weeks.

First senior international meet: European Short Course Championships in 2005

My aspirations are: To win Olympic gold. Either 2008 or 2012!

Tip for the top: Persistence, just keep at it

Life after swimming: Think I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Music: Listen to anything, nothing specific.

If I wasn’t a swimmer I would be a: I would be involved in another sport. Not sure which.

Football, Cricket or Rugby: Rugby, it’s a real man’s sport.

Describe yourself in three words: Determined / Passionate / Driven

Would most like to meet: Muhammad Ali. He achieved so much and changed the face of his sport.

Most prized possession: Life

Biggest influence on career: Girlfriend, parents and my coach.

Sporting relations: Dad is a coach at Rotherham Swimming Club
