ASA/UKCC Level 1 Coaching Programme - Overview

· The qualification is split into 2 units
· Unit 1 is core and common to all aquatic disciplines and must be passed before proceeding to any Unit 2
· Unit 2 is sport specific i.e. Diving, Swimming Coaching, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo, Aquatics
· It is possible to qualify in more than one discipline by achieving Unit 1 and then Unit 2 in any or all of the other disciplines
· Each unit is assessed individually and independently
· Unit 1 is continuously assessed including one 15 minute formal assessment
· Unit 2 is assessed through written examination and continual assessment
· Re-assessment opportunities are available for each unit
· There is no standardised cost for the course or individual units. This will vary between Approved Centres and availability of local funding opportunities
