ASA Level 2 Award in Aqua Circuits
This course provides instructors with the skills to design and deliver safe, effective, quality balanced Aqua Circuits programmes and to evaluate the effectiveness of an Aqua Circuits group session.
Description: For those who prefer a more targeted workout without the dance to music element, Aqua Circuits are the aquatic equivalent to circuits in the gym. Based on a range of activities and movements, participants use equipment such as weights and specialised floats and move between stations to tone specific muscle groups. Workouts often include an element aimed at improving aerobic fitness.
Duration: 3 days
Entry requirements: - You must hold a relevant Level 2 fitness qualification - Ideally be a Member of The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) - If you hold an existing ASA Aqua Fit award without a formal Level 2 exercise & fitness qualification then you may gain entry to this course however you will not be able to gain REPs membership registration or REPs CPD points through achievement of this award alone
Course content: - Principles of fitness - Principles of training - Theory of exercise in water - Types of exercise to use in water - How to plan, instruct and evaluate an Aqua Circuits training session
Assessment: You will submit a portfolio of evidence which contains the following: - Screening documentation for all participants - Session Plan designed for Aqua Circuits - Session Plan Organiser - Evidence of CPR/First Aid Certificate - Health and Safety Worksheet - Promote the Adoption of Physical Activity Worksheet
You will then be observed instructing your group through the planned session. Following assessment you will carry out a written evaluation of your performance and create an action plan for your continued professional development. During the course you will gain further knowledge and skills by participating in group activities in the aqua training environment.
