The Workforce Development team are about to embark on a tour of the country meeting tutors to support delivery of the new courses.  The opening night is at Gloucester on the 19th December and invites to tutors have been issued through Education Officers.  Further dates are to be announced shortly.

The Institute of Swimming is currently starting to train some new tutors to fill gaps in certain regions and disciplines. We have been receiving applications over the past couple of weeks and will be contacting candidates with a view to starting the training in the New Year.

The DVD of expected standards for the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) Stages 1 - 7 is now complete.  Once we have designs for the template CD both will be posted out in early December. Helen Preedy has completed her secondment as National Education Officer for the NPTS and has now moved back to her role as Regional Business Manager for the West Midlands Region as of 1st December.  All immediate enquiries from this point are to be directed to npts@swimming.org.

Following feedback from candidates and Approved Centres, the course and candidate registration process is about to be updated.  Centres will be issued with the new registration forms, full guidance notes and assessment documentation shortly, ready for the changes to come into effect from 10th December.  All the new documentation will also be available online in the Approved Centre area.

Also online for Approved Centres to use is a listing of Internal Verifiers - published recently in a secure section of the website due to a number of enquiries from Approved Centres wishing to appoint an IV themselves.  Key Contacts should send an email to approvedcentres@swimming.org with their centre code to obtain a username and password for access to this area.

That's all for now, thanks for reading.

If you would like future editions of this update emailed straight to you as soon as they become available, please send your contact details to claire.freeman@swimming.org
