MAIN FEATURE
Real stars – Swimtastic Awards ‘You are what makes our work so special and so exciting’, ASA chief executive David Sparkes told children at the ASA Swimtastic dinner – adding that they were the real stars of the event, despite a multitude of elite aquatic performers surrounding the award winners.
But awards from an awards scheme? How does that square? Perhaps ‘recognition’ is a better word to describe the ASA’s Swimtastic event – recognition of the disparate groups encouraged within the work of the ASA and its Kellogg’s Award Scheme. Recognition of young and old, disability swimmers, families, synchro, swim schools, facility operators and even community projects. Each year the Swimtastic Awards showcase what can be achieved through the sport and the winners’ personal stories make the event the highlight of the Kellogg’s ASA Awards calendar.
