Workforce Development Update
Edition 13: 27 May 2008
Hi everyone,
We are in the process of meeting all the ASA Regional Directors to discuss their workforce development and education strategies for 2009-2013. We have met with the Regional Managers of sports coach UK to update them on developments in the UK Coaching Framework.
A board meeting of the National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure also took place recently, of which we are the NGB representative. This is an employer led and directed 'one stop shop' to co-ordinate training and career information for employers and individuals, led by SkillsActive. There are a number of UKCC courses happening over the next month or so which still have a limited number of places available. Click here to find out more on these late availability courses.
The Learning and Skills Council audited our Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) contract and we received an excellent '0% error' result and a Qualified decision which meant they were completely happy with the way we manage the contract financially.
Yet more feedback from happy candidates has been received:-
One Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics candidate said "...I would like to thank you for an amazing course delivery, I have learnt so much from you this week in regards to swimming and my teaching skills."
A Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics course generated this response "I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight to you what an exceptional course Sheila Done and Tracy Scott delivered to myself [and a colleague]. Having both paid for this course personally, we really feel that the level of knowledge and expertise from both Sheila and Tracy surpassed all our expectations and has definitely given us the key knowledge that we needed in order to bring FUN, variety and a love of swimming to all the participants that we may engage with in the future."
Finally, "I have been asked by Helen to let you know just how much the members of Helen's Swimming School who attended the Flip & Fun course at Sevenoaks last weekend enjoyed the training. The tutor was great and the whole event thoroughly worthwhile ... !"
With this new diving FUNdamentals programme Flip n Fun becoming ever more popular, we invited a Swimming Teacher from Tandridge Leisure, Surrey to provide a critique on the programme which was recently published on the website. Click here to read more if you missed it!
That's all for now, thanks for reading,
