GENERAL INFORMATION

Events: 1500m Freestyle and 10km

Favourite event: Now I have qualified for the Olympics, the 1500m

Finest ever performance/Why: Breaking the British record over 5k in Manchester 2007 and obviously the final of the 1500m freestyle Olympic trials. It was tough. The heats were basically a time trial while in the final I had to be aware of the field with only one sport available. (This is because David Davies pre-qualified for the event.)

First senior international meet: European Short Course Championships 2005, Trieste.

Role models: David Davies. I have done a few training camps with him and he is always professional, also Paul Palmer because of his achievements while I was growing up.

My aspirations are: Simply continue to swim and progress. I am looking to be around for 2012 and maybe event the 2016 Olympics.

Tip for the top: Train hard and race harder

Life after swimming: I will hopefully train as an architect so have a career in that.

Music: General stuff, although I like the ‘Step Up 2’ soundtrack.

If I wasn’t a swimmer/diver I would be: Playing Basketball. I was captain at school but I broke my wrist doing a ‘slam dunk.’

Describe yourself in three words: Tall, dark and handsome

Would most like to meet: Michael Phelps is amazing, I would like to find out what makes him tick.

Most prized possession: My bed! I am a bit lazy and enjoy my sleep.

Biggest influence on career: Friends, family and my coach Nick Juba. They have all supported me.
