About Sheffield

Sheffield is the country's greenest city and has all the features that England's forth-largest city should have and more. It is ideally located with the Peak District National Park right on its doorstep. Sheffield's array of visitor attractions offers a vibrant mix of quality experiences. The city's offering of galleries and museums is impressive and houses everything from rare and ancient artefacts to the latest in contemporary art.

Whether your interests lie in industrial or cultural heritage there is lots to explore in Sheffield. Internationally renowned stately homes such as Chatsworth and Hardwick Hall, sit on Sheffield’s doorstep. While Industrial Heritage sites of world importance offer fascinating reminders of Sheffield’s illustrious past.

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping in Sheffield. A short Supertram ride from the centre is Meadowhall, one of Europe's biggest shopping malls with more than 270 stores. The City Centre complements Meadowhall perfectly, with its broad pedestrianised streets, high-street stores and independent designer shops.

As a National City of Sport, Sheffield is home to some of the greatest international sporting venues in the country. The world-class facilities include Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Europe’s largest ice complex, all season ski resort, Rother Valley Country Park, English Institute of Sport and the Don Valley Stadium. Sheffield also has a wealth of spectator sports including two professional football teams (Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday), and hosts Sheffield’s famous sporting events including World Snooker and British Open Show jumping
