What the NPTS means for Swimming Teachers

One of the key principles of the NPTS is the programme has been designed to assist ASA/UKCC Level 2 qualified teachers by providing a comprehensive, integrated and progressive teaching programme which can act as a standard reference of outcomes and standards for those responsible for planning and developing swimming programmes.

Consistency in Delivery & Assessment

The NPTS syllabus ensures consistency in delivery and assessment by giving teachers the expected outcomes for each of the 10 stages.  All outcomes should be achieved in order for the swimmer to progress onto the next stage.

But far from being rigid, the NPTS syllabus gives teachers the ability to add their own imagination and initiatives to the framework and come up with fun ways to reach the outcomes.
