Review ART Academy Rovaniemi 2008 (FIN)
The FIG Academy Program has just completed a third Academy this September. This time it was a Level 2 Academy held in the far northern city of Rovaniemi in Finland.
It was the 34th FIG Academy for artistic gymnastics and the 45th overall with participants from Finland, Germany and Sweden.

Chris Evans taught the WAG apparatus, some of the theory lectures and served as course leader. Edouard Iarov taught the MAG apparatus. Most of the theory lectures and horizontal bar were taught by Falvio Bessi who flew directly to Rovaniemi form an Academy in El Salvador. Rietje Bijlholt from the Netherlands taught the artistic preparation and choreography lectures.
The theory and technical lectures were all held in the wonderful facilities of the Sport Center Santa Sport.
The highest results for WAG and for the course overall were achieved by Christina NURMI of Finland. The highest results for MAG were shared by Ville ALMENOKSA and Ollie TORKELL both also from Finland.
Thanks must go to Jarno Leppanen of the Finish gymnastics Federation for providing perfect conditions for an Academy and to Mervi Kumpuniemi and Terhi Tuorilainen of the Sports Centre Santa Sport providing every possible assistance to assure the success of the course.
The FIG Academy Program continues in September with another Level 2 Academy for Artistic Gymnastics in Bratislava and an experts training course in Copenhagen for the Foundations of Gymnastics Courses organized in cooperation with the Gymnastics for All Committee.
