Born July 29, 1957 in Leninabad, Tadjikistan.


Education

  • Legate National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health,  St. Petersburg, Russia,  2012 - Ph.D ;
  • Academy of Physical Education and Sports, Almaty, Kazakhstan 1978;
  • Bachelor degree in Physical education and sport;
  • Academy of Social Sciences in Minsk, Belarus 1985.

Main Gymnastics Achievements

  • 1976 Olympic Games - 3 Gold and 1 Silver medals :
  • First to score perfect 10.00 on VT and on FX  at the Olympics;
  • First in the history of Women’s  gymnastics to perform  Double salto bwd on FX and Salto bwd  with 360° turn (Tsukahara with 360°  turn ; tuck and stretched) on VT;
  • 1980 Olympic Games; 2 Gold medals;
  • 1974, 1978 and 1979 World Championships; 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals;
  • 1975 and 1977 European Championships; 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.

  • 1976 and 1980. “Order of Trudovogo Krasnogo Znameni” (the Order of arduous Red Flag of USSR), rewarded for very special achievements (before Heroes of USSR which is highest distinction);
  • 1999. Honoured and inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame, Oklahoma;
  • 2000. Honoured and inducted into the Olympic Hall of Fame, Lausanne;
  • 2007. Honoured and inducted into Gymnastics Hall of Fame of University of Minnesota;
