Tim Shaw joined the European Tour in 1997, initially working in a commercial capacity for European Tour Productions, the European Tour’s television production and distribution company.  In 1999 Tim moved to the European Tour’s headquarters at Wentworth where he became the European Sales Director for the Tour and the Ryder Cup (when played in Europe). 

Tim’s responsibilities are focussed in 3 key areas:  Corporate Relationships, Sponsorship of Tour owned assets/tournaments and the Ryder Cup Commercial Programme.

Together with his colleagues, Tim has overseen and implemented the introduction of a new commercial programme on the Ryder Cup which has seen sponsorship income from this event quadruple since 1997.  In addition, Tim has played a key role in managing and delivering many of the other commercial elements of the Ryder Cup including Hospitality, Publishing, Licensing, On-Line and Ticketing. He is also a member of the Ryder Cup Management Team charged with overseeing the event.

On the European Tour, Tim has played a key role in securing Barclays as a title sponsor of the Scottish Open, UBS as a title sponsor of the Hong Kong Open and the Portuguese Tourist Board as one of three global sponsors of the World Golf Championship Series event and title sponsor of the 2005 World Cup. 

Together with the members of the Group Marketing Team at Wentworth, Tim also has responsibility for securing and managing a large number of key corporate relationships for the European Tour including Unisys, MasterCard, Genworth, UPS and Club Car amongst others.

Prior to joining the European Tour Tim worked for various sports marketing agencies, both in London and Edinburgh.  During this time Tim developed experience in managing and implementing marketing programmes for significant international brands such as Holsten Export, Ruddles and Budweiser which embraced a variety of sports orientated initiatives in the fields of cricket, basketball, Atlanta Olympic Games and ice hockey.  During this time, Tim also worked extensively with two of the main governing bodies in Rugby Union, the Welsh Rugby Union and Scottish Rugby Union and was closely involved in a number of major sponsorship deals signed with brands such as Nike, Volkswagen, Pringle, Famous Grouse and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Tim was born in London, educated at Tonbridge School in Kent and studied for a BA Hons degree in Business Studies at City of London Polytechnic (now Guildhall University).
