Mr. Schmeck works in the function of the Regional Director for the Western European Countries Great Britain, France and Spain, comprising the industries automotive, aerospace and transportation and is, as such, responsible for Business Development and P&L as well. Heiner Schmeck has led the Automotive Unit of Dornier Consulting GmbH from 2002 to 2006. He has acted as Managing Director of the subsidiary Dornier Automotive Systems GmbH since 2003. Directing the activities of the subsidiary Telematics Research Group Europe, a joint venture with the telematics research Group Inc. USA, belonged to his leadership responsibilities since January 2004.
Heiner Schmeck began his professional career in 1979 at Daimler-Benz, for whom he took on leadership responsibilities in diverse company departments. During his employment in the divisions “automobile” and “heavy goods vehicles” he worked on physical measuring systems within the parameters of the development of vehicles and drive units. Between 1988 and 1995 he acted as project director for traffic and telematic projects as part of an international research programme by the European automobile industry and relevant European Union departments. During this time, he collaborated on numerous concepts aiming to solve traffic and transport problems and gained valuable experience implementing solutions with transportation companies and public urban transportation operators. As a result of the liberalisation of the telecommunications market in Europe, he participated on behalf of Daimler-Benz in 1989/90 on the drafting of a bid for two cellular phone licences in Germany.
In addition, he was able to gain practical experience as lecturer in electrical engineering at the Professional Academy Baden Württemberg in Stuttgart. After this, he was responsible for the project area Cooperative Mobility Systems for the MCC AG in Biel, Switzerland until 1998, where he was able to deepen his practical experiences through the construction of combined mobility services in cooperation with domestic and foreign partners.
From 1988 to 1999 he acted as Head of the Research Programme Automobile, Traffic and Telematics at DaimlerChrysler AG before he was entrusted with creating and heading up the department Telematics and Mobility Engineering |
