Francesco Norante
Director Security Integration, VANOC 2010

Mr. Norante is a former Italian Carabinieri Officer who is currently Director of Security for Vancouver 2010. He is responsible for the integration between Vancouver Organising Committee and Law Enforcement agencies for Vancouver 2010.  In this role Mr. Norante collaborates with Law Enforcement and Public Safety agencies in charge of the security for the Olympic Games. Mr. Norante works in close cooperation with the above agencies to develop security strategies, project plans and adequate budget analysis for the Olympics and maintain integrated the Organizing Committee and the Public Safety agencies planning.

During the recent Turin 2006 Olympic Games, Mr. Norante was the Head of Toroc Games Security in charge of the planning phase (security strategies to secure Olympic venues; Olympic Transportation and Logistics) and during the Games he was responsible for Toroc security operations within venues and the integration with Law Enforcement for security matters. In this role, Mr. Norante worked in close cooperation with the U.S. Department of State and other Embassies.

Mr. Norante used to practice law, specializing in civil, commercial and company law.

Mr. Norante is also a former Carabinieri Corps Officer (Major) who served for 16 years in a variety of operational management roles included Liaison Officer for Peace-Keeping operations contingent (Albania-Somalia-Mozambique). He spent five years in Special Forces and he was responsible for a unit specialized in Counter Terrorist operations and Major Crimes.

Mr. Norante is also consulted on international security projects for International Olympic Committee and U.N.I.C.R.I. (United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute).
