Mark is Managing Director of the G4S Events business, which employs over 4,000 personnel providing security, safety, crowd management and training to customers throughout the UK and world-wide. Mark has been commanding major security and crowd management operations since 1973 including the Live 8 events in London and Edinburgh. Mark continues to be actively involved at a strategic, tactical and operational level at events such as T in the Park, V Festival and Download. For the past 18 years Mark has also taken responsibility for all security related issues on behalf of Sir Paul McCartney.

During the development of UK national standards, Mark was a committee member of various groups advising on the implementation of British Standards and National Vocational Qualifications in spectator management. He is keenly involved in the development of training and education in the crowd management and event security sector and was recently appointed Head of the Centre for Crowd Management and Security Studies at Buckinghamshire New University.
