Opening Ceremony The theme for the Opening Ceremony of the WG-2011 is: EMOTION ON THE MOVE. An innovative concept was created by Fred Greder in collaboration with Christian Mattis, two prominent Swiss gymnastics celebrities. The IOC has made itself clear! Nothing more will be divulged with regard to the opening ceremony prior to the event. But there’s one thing you can count on: a unique programme that is both full of surprises and bursting with emotion!
Educational Forum The Forum has been organised since the very first Gymnaestrada and has taken on particular importance. The event serves two fundamental purposes for the World Gymnaestrada: to present the latest trends and developments in Gymnastics for All and to contribute to the general and technical training of coaches. It also has as its objective to foster the sharing of ideas among FIG member federations, each of which is invited to give a presentation. For the first time ever, the Educational Forum, this time targeting GYM FOR FUN, will take place in a hall that has been specifically appointed and reserved for the occasion! It is located next to the demonstration venues inside Beaulieu Lausanne. Furthermore, the Forum will be operational throughout the week, from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sessions lasting between 30 and 60 minutes in various formats, such as practical or theoretical sessions, group discussions, workshops, etc., will include the following topics:
- Gymnastics with or without apparatus (Methodology/Pedagogy/Safety/Fun)
- Gymnastics and Dance (Methodology/Pedagogy/Fitness/Fun)
- New Trends

Due to the outstanding success of previous FIG Galas, the FIG and the OC have decided to organise an additional Gala. Gala events are set to take place indoors at the Malley Sport Centre on Saturday, July 16, 2011, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm as well as from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Performances from around the world will transport you into the magic of gymnastics. Come and dive with us into the fantastic world of Gymnastics for All!' - MEET THE MAGIC!
Closing Ceremony At the Closing Ceremony, which consists of Large Group performances and official ceremonies, the Organising Committee will gather all participating gymnasts for one last event. The ceremony marks the end of a festive and exuberant World Gymnaestrada week. Finland, host country to the next edition of the World Gymnaestrada, will be present at this ceremony. At the end of the Closing Ceremony, the OC will stage a fabulous party in the WG village of Bellerive for a final moment of fun; the next edition is set for 2015 in Helsinki.
