Coaching in the UK
English Lacrosse has employed international players and coaches for over 20 years, which has lead to great support and expansion of the game in the UK. Coaching alumni/ae include graduates from programs such as Maryland, Hobart & William Smith Collges, UVM, BU, Dartmouth, UNC, Virginia, Drexel, Notre Dame, Connecticut College and many more. This staff has been the forerunners of the 70 development programmes currently taking place nationwide.
Many different employment opportunities exist, depending on playing and coaching experience. Male and female applicants are eligible for the Local Development Officer Program (coaching at clubs and schools), while females have the option to coach as a School Coaching Officer (where they are employed as a members of staff at a school). Occasionally there is a School Coaching Officer position open to males. These opportunities are excellent resume builders for all participants based on the level of responsibility required, but particularly for those looking to coach at any level or enter the education field.
