ASA Teacher & Coach Licensing
The majority of people involved with swimming and the associated disciplines recognise the need to have a well regulated 'professional' workforce. Licensing can contribute towards the achievement of the aim.
The opportunity to become licensed is open to all qualified aquatic instructors, whether paid or unpaid for their service, who meet the stated criteria and are commited to ongoing personal development. However, the requirement to become licensed does not apply to all.
These pages aim to explain the process and criteria of the licence and hopefully answer any specific queries which you may have. The long term aim is to encourage employers to use the licensing scheme as part of the appointment process and to move to a situation where we have a predominantly licensed profession.
