Introduction

There are many Swim Schools operating throughout the country, supplementing the opportunities available from School Swimming and lesson programmes available from Local Authorities and Swimming Clubs.

The ASA are keen to promote any agency that offers learn to swim and as a result have introduced a category of membership specifically geared to supporting Swim Schools.

What are the aims of the ASA Swim School Membership Scheme ?

  • To enable Swim Schools to work more closely in partnership with the ASA
  • To encourage Best Practice
  • To encourage Swim Schools to input into the development of their swimming staff

There are significant membership benefits:

  • Access to help and advice from the ASA
  • Free listing of Swim School on British Swimming website
  • Discounts with Swimming Times – advertising and inserts
  • Free access to resource material
  • Free advice from ASA Business Development Team
  • Discount on ASA Awards
  • Free Aquamark assessment – having purchased self assessment pack
  • Right to use an ‘ASA Swim School Member’ logo
  • Preferential insurance rates through Perkins Slade

Cost of membership is minimal - £50 per year for Aquamark accredited centres and £60 for all others. Membership is available to all private and commercial Swim Schools.

To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:

  • Provide written assurance you will comply with the ASA’s Code of Ethics & Child Protection procedures
  • Employ teachers who are members of the Institute of Swimming (IOS) or have their own professional insurance to cover activities within the school

This is a real commitment on behalf of the Governing Body to raise the standards of Swim Schools, through a comprehensive advice programme, supported by very real practical advice from experts in the field.
